On our last day on the Amalfi Coast, Ashley (History In High Heels) and I decided to stay in the city where our hotel for the weekend was, Sorrento. Sorrento is such a cute place to walk around, shop and eat out in, but another fun, more unexpected activity is going to a lemon farm. Ashley and I went to I Giardini di Cataldo, the cutest little lemon farm. There, we toured the lemon tree garden and payed 10 euros to have a lemon product tasting. I'm not a huge lemon person (with the exception of lemonade), but the lemons here are unreal and so much better than in America. The Amalfi coast is known for producing lemons and the amazingness of their prized product definitely lives up to the hype. The lemon tasting provided a lesson on how lemon products at the farm were produced and then a sampling of a lemon covered in sugar, lemon pastry and tiny sips of limoncello and several other types of alcohols they made on the farm, such as basil and licorice (I wasn't too crazy about those). Apparently you can make flavored alcohol out of just about anything if you ferment it in vodka for several weeks. The tasting ended with a cone of lemon sorbet –which was amazing! The people working there were so nice. One of the chefs loved the fact that Ashley was wearing a lemon print scarf so much that he asked to take a photo with us and then gave us each a free hand painted lemon shot glass and huge lemon! The lemon farm was the main event of the day, but before that, we actually stopped at the cutest darned hotel, Grand Hotel Ambasciatori, for a cappuccino. Sipping coffee is even better when you're on a cute patio overlooking the water. We also popped into a little orange garden we found to take photos!
