Dorm Bedroom Tour

Here it is: the long awaited dorm tour! It took me a while to be able to make this post due to the fact that I've been crazy busy and haven't had time to put all my wall decorations up. But now everything is perfect (or as perfect as it's ever going to get) so I'm excited to share with y'all how I've decorated it! I have to say, I'm pretty proud of myself because essentially everything in my room is stuff that I'm reusing from last year. There were two things that I found online over the summer that I knew I had to have. This zig-zag rug from West Elm and the framed wall print hanging over my bed from Urban Outfitters. Both items were a bit pricey but seeing as I barely spent any money on dorm decor last year, I didn't feel bad making the splurge.

Something else I'm proud of is that I was able to make my room look overall very cute despite the God awful brown furniture and maroon window panes. I would say that's definitely the biggest downfall to living in a dorm rather than an apartment in terms of decorating.

Since most of the stuff in my room is old, I can't link the exact items but I will list where I bought everything and try to find similar items if they aren't in stock anymore.

The other weekend, I went to Brooklyn to hang out with a couple of friends and it didn't end up going the way I expected. First of all, we ended up spending most of our time in an insanely beautiful and historic brownstone in Prospect Heights. Secondly, I ended up being part of an Ian Marko photoshoot (reference the last photo in this post) and meeting a bunch of cool new people. In between hanging out and shooting, we walked around Prospect Park to take some outfit photos and ended up eating dinner at this great Restaurant, The James. Moral of the story, Brooklyn is always a good time.

Thank you Emily for the photos!

Summer Ain't Over Yet

At the ShopStyle blogger event I attended (and wrote about in a post from a couple weeks back) they were generous enough to let us choose from a gorgeous selection of clothing a few pieces we could borrow and style for blog photos. One of the pieces that caught my eye was this adorable striped off the shoulder top from Do + Be (a very affordable brand with a bunch of cute pieces). Although basically everyone is gearing up towards transitioning into fall, I still wanted to share this outfit with you as a way of honorably tipping my hat to summer 2016. I also wanted to debut my new GiGi New York bag in one of their new limited edition fall colors. Although this bag seems super summery due to the way I styled it, dusty rose is one of the hottest, most trendy colors for this fall!

For fashion week, I had the amazing opportunity to attend ShopStyle's Social House event! The whole event was very glam to say the least. It was held in a window-filled, amazingly decorated room that overlooked the city and was filled with some of the most famous bloggers out there. I had the opportunity to meet so many other bloggers and talk with reps from big brand name companies such as Sole Society, GiGi New York, Baublebar and more. One of the most amazing parts of the event was the racks on racks on racks of brand name clothing that was provided for us to borrow and style for photoshoots. I immediately eyed this GORGEOUS mohair mini skirt from Milly and almost died when I had to give it back at the end of the event. I wanted to keep it so bad! Thankfully, they had a very talented onsite photographer who helped me to document my love affair with this skirt and the way I styled it on the balcony of the venue. I'm so obsessed with the way these photos turned out and I hope y'all enjoy them too!

After three months of summer spent back home in Georgia, I am FINALLY back in New York City! When I am in the urban environment of NYC, my style definitely twists into a fusion of classic and chic. I will take simple and modest items like this dainty pearl necklace and these lace shorts and pair them with trendy items such as these lace-up heels and glamorous sunglasses. Speaking of these incredible sunglasses, I recently became involved with an amazing company called Ditto. Anybody heard of Rocksbox? Ditto essentially the same thing except with designer sunglasses: you create an account, choose from hundreds of pairs of designer glasses (sunglasses or prescription) that include brands like Ray-ban, Dior, Karen Walker, etc. and choose a pair to be shipped to your house. You can keep them for however long you like on rental or you could ship them back every couple days in exchange for a new pair. If you like a pair so much that you want to keep them permanently, you can purchase them through Ditto for a discounted price! Ditto is $24 per month for unlimited glasses swaps but if you use my code CLASSYKATE when signing up, you get a whole month for free! I hope y'all choose to take advantage of this amazing, generous service :)
